Bio

Shannon is a journalist at Black Press in Prince Rupert, British Columbia who has worked across several media platforms.

On the North Coast, Shannon writes for the Northern View newspaper, the Northern Connector and the industry magazine, N2K. She is also a videographer for the newspaper to add extra colour to online stories.

Since 2013, she has interned at a daily newspaper, The Ottawa Citizen, produced for CTV’s Canada AM, wrote and produced for Global National and wrote in-depth features as a news journalist for the Canadian Medical Association Journal. In 2015, she graduated from the masters of journalism program at Carleton University in Ottawa.

During her studies she traveled to India for two months on a research grant to cover a story about displaced Tibetans preparing to come to Canada on a resettlement program. She also produced and directed the documentary “Secret War” with three other colleagues. The short film was picked up by CBC for broadcast and was nominated at the Yorkton Film Festival.
